OUR PRACTICE STAFF

 

At WPS clients and referrers can choose from male or female, clinical, educational and developmental or counselling psychologists, day or evening appointments. Specialist interests include those related to depression and anxiety, child and adolescent counselling and assessment, relationship, body image, trauma, adolescence, pain and injury, serious mental ill health, work stress, domestic violence, aged and other issues.

 

NB: From time to time, some Psychologists may have waiting periods. If so, you will be offered the option to see another Psychologist at an earlier time, or be placed on a waiting list for preferred Psychologist.

 

CHILD PSYCHOLOGISTS

Dr Chaille Breuer

BA (Hons)(Psych),M.Psych/PhD (Child Clinical)

WPS would like to welcome Clinical Psychologist (Child) Chaille who rejoins our team following a year on maternity leave. She will conduct educational assessments and assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and assist us develop our child specific assessment and treatment services.

Suzanne Magtanong

BPsych, PostGradDipPsych, MPsych (Ed & Dev)

Suzanne has specialist training in Educational and Developmental Psychology. She has experience working with young people in early intervention settings, primary and secondary schools, and community services.  Suzanne’s work centres in working collaboratively with individuals and providing evidence-based therapies and individualised interventions.  Her work includes psycho-educational and diagnostic assessments of neurodevelopmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities. Suzanne provides early intervention programs to children with ASD and with individuals experiencing challenges with social skills, anxiety, depression, emotional-regulation, transition, self-esteem, assertiveness and school-related issues.

Rozalia Hecht

B.Sci.Psych. (Hons.),M.Psych. MAPS, MCEDP 

Rozalia is a psychologist with specialist training in Educational and Developmental Psychology. Rozalia has extensive experience working with children and adolescents in primary / secondary / special schools, community services and clinical settings. She specialises in working with young people of primary and secondary school age who are experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, social and learning difficulties. Rozalia also works with parents individually for parenting support, and in group parenting sessions.

PSYCHOLOGISTS

Diane Bulman

B.A., B.Ed. (Counselling) MAPS)

Diane is a general psychologist who has worked in both public and private settings. She has worked in Crisis Care, sexual abuse recovery and domestic violence agencies. Her special interests are working with adolescents and adults; self development; women’s health; issues of addictions including alcohol and gambling recovery; self esteem; assertiveness; anxiety and depression; as well as parenting skills.

Joseph Gagliano

B.A., B.Litt. P.G. Dip., M. Psych. MAPS

Joseph is a psychologist who has worked in private practice within small and large organisations and a variety of psychology practices including University counselling. His special interests are working with people who struggle with anxiety and depression; bullying and work place issues; work/family balance; self-esteem; assertiveness as well as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Lauren Giarrusso

Lauren is currently on maternity leave.

Lauren is a clinical psychologist who works primarily with adults, and some adolescents. She has experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety, personality disorders, substance abuse and trauma. Lauren aims to equip her clients with the skills and tools to live happy and fulfilled lives. She utilises various approaches, typically including elements of CBT, schema therapy, attachment theory and psychodynamic therapy. Lauren is also a Board approved supervisor for all levels of psychology, including the Clinical Registrar program.

Simon Lush

BAppSc (Psych) PostgradDipPsych MPsych (Clin)

Simon is a clinical psychologist who works to support clients through difficult times in their life. Most often he will see people when they have been struggling with depression, anxiety or adjusting to difficult life changes. Simon will use a variety of approaches based on what might be helpful, but he has a solid grounding in cognitive behavioural, mindfulness and psychodynamic approaches. Simon works with adults from all walks of life and ages.

Jenny McColl

Jenny is a counselling psychologist specifically trained in relationship counselling and marital and family therapy. She is an accredited supervisor and member of the College of Counselling Psychologists. Her special interests are relationship and couples issues; working with depression and anxiety related problems; work and family balance as well as individual self-esteem and self development.

Lyndon Medina

Assoc. Dip. Welfare, BA (psychology), Grad. Dip. Applied Psych. (Counselling), MAPS,  FCCOUNP

 

Lyndon is a Counselling Psychologist and a Psychodramatist. He has been a psychologist for over twenty years and has worked with young people and families in community organisation setting, adults studying in university and unemployed individuals in the community. His special interest includes providing individual psychotherapy, facilitating groups, conducting training and providing psychological supervision. He has worked with trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality issues, personal growth and a wide range of life issues. Lyndon utilises a range of psychotherapy approaches including CBT & related models, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Schema Therapy, Existential Therapy, Psychodrama and EFT.

Dr Angelo Pagano

BA, MBSc.(Prel), DPsych (Clin, Child, Adol & Fam), MAPS, McCLIN

Angelo is a clinical psychologist & Director of Western Psychological Services. He works with young people (15 yrs +), adults & their family members particularly in recovery from childhood & adult trauma, depression & anxiety, stress & pain management, serious mental ill-health & life enhancement issues for men & women.

Sarah Rostron

BPsych (Hons), M.Psych (Ed & Dev) MAPS

Sarah is a psychologist with experience working with people of all ages experiencing difficulties with their mental health. She has experience working with children and families in early intervention settings, as well as in youth mental health, adult and older-adult mental health. Sarah has a special interest in working with clients to understand trauma experiences, mood and anxiety disorders, and developmental disorders. Sarah has training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and tailors her approach to therapy based on the client’s goals. Sarah has specialist training in Educational and Developmental psychology and is currently completing additional training in Clinical psychology.

Dr Peter Saunders

BSocSc, BAppSc(Hons) MPsych(Clin) PhD

Peter is not taking any new clients.

 

Peter is a psychologist with training in clinical psychology. Peter has worked in a range of different mental health environments, including forensic settings, psychiatric hospitals and in the community. His interests are working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, psychosis and social difficulties. His therapeutic practices include CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

Erin Smith

BS Psych, BS (Hons)(Psych), M.Psych (Clin) Candidate 

 

Erin is a provisional psychologist who is completing her final internship at Western Psychological Services  as part of her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Federation University. Erin has experience working with a diverse range of client populations, and has previously worked with young people and their families in community clinic and educational settings. Erin  works collaboratively with clients using a range of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. Erin is primarily looking to work with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, grief and loss, trauma and stress related difficulties.

Laura Smolcic

Laura is not taking any new clients.

 

Laura is a clinical Psychologist and has worked in public mental health settings in Continuing Care teams. She has worked with complex clients & engaged in supportive counselling. She works with people experiencing Post Natal & Peri Natal Depression, Eating Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, Psychosis, Major Depression & Anxiety disorders. Her therapeutic practices include CBT, Schema therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy & Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. She has a special interest in Body Image issues, including obesity, dysfunctional eating & other weight related issues.
